Expanding Dog Grooming Operation Gets Southington PZC OK
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission approved a special permit for a growing dog grooming operation to move into a new site.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local dog groomer has received the necessary town approval to move her operation to a larger location as her business has boomed.
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission Jan. 17 unanimously approved Michele Pinette's special permit application to operate her dog wash and grooming salon at 45 Old Turnpike Road.
Pinette currently operates Plantsville-based Fur Babies Self Service Dog Wash at 1203 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, Plantsville.

But she recently filed an application with the PZC for an operation at 45 Old Turnpike Road, which is a small, multi-unit commercial building.
She said Thursday her business is doing so well, it is ready to move to a larger site.

Those doing self-service baths for their pets have private areas with just them and their dogs, the operation sells the necessary soaps and supplies for the baths.
Fur Babies also offers various grooming and nail-clipping services as well.
Prior to the vote, public hearing comments showed nothing but support for Pinette's application.
She said dogs will be groomed one at a time and there are no kennels, outdoor areas or overnight stays.
In addition, the new sight will feature soundproofing to mitigate noise for other commercial tenants at the building.
The hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
