Explore History Of Southington's Beloved Farm Attraction

'Harvesting History' is a program on Saturday, Sept. 28, that will look at the history of the Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — One of Southington's more unique attractions will be on full display on Saturday, Sept. 28, as part of a special history program.

Organized by the Barnes Museum and the Southington Open Space Commission, the event is called "Harvesting History" and it will discuss the history of the Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm.

Located on 65 Blueberry Lane, the farm — known locally as "The LEAF" — has evolved over the centuries into a cornerstone in local agricultural and environmental education.

The suggested donation for the program, which is from noon to 2 p.m. at the farm, is $10.

"Explore the fascinating past of the Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm, a site that has been a farm since the 1700s and was once Indigenous land," reads an announcement of the event.

"The program includes a short presentation by Barnes Museum Curator Christina Volpe on the history of the farm's building on Blueberry Lane, followed by family insights and a farm tour led by Mark Ramsey."

There is a limited amount of space for the event and registration is required.
