Fake Prescription For Potent Drug Leads to Charges in Southington

A man was arrested after trying to pick up a potent drug with a doctored prescription at a supermarket pharmacy in Southington, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man was arrested after trying to pick up a potent drug with a doctored prescription at a supermarket pharmacy in Southington, police said.

At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jeffrey Kissi, 21, of New Britain, surrendered on a warrant, police said. He was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery, conspiracy to illegally obtain drugs, illegally obtaining drugs, conspiracy to possess an illegal substance and possession of an illegal substance.

Kissi was held on a $5,000 court-set cash/surety bond and was to appear in court on Thursday, police said.

The warrant alleges that at about 11 a.m. on Oct.12, Kissi and unidentified man entered the Price Chopper, located at 410 Queen St., proceeded to the in-store pharmacy, presented identification and then picked up a forged/altered prescription for Promethazine-Codeine syrup that was faxed in two days earlier.

The prescription was in the name of another person and Kissi allegedly claimed he was a relative of that person, police said.
