UPDATE: Police ID Victim in Fatal Southington Crash

The crash took place Monday morning: BREAKING.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police are investigating just what happened in a fatal Monday morning crash involving a pedestrian on Savage Street.

The crash was on Savage St. in the area of Rockwood Drive at 9:55 a.m., police said.

The Southington Police Dept. Accident Investigation team was at the scene in the early afternoon conducting the investigation, police said.

Traffic is being detoured around the area where the investigation is taking place.

Police said Jarred Korab, 37, of Wallingford, Connecticut was operating a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer in a northerly direction of Savage Street.

In close proximity to the intersection of Rockwood Drive the passenger side of the vehicle collided with pedestrian Amal Abouchakra age 50 of Southington.

Abouchakra was on the eastern edge of Savage Street when she was struck by the vehicle.

Abouchakra was transported from the scene to Bradley Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
