A fire broke out at a Southington apartment on Tuesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A fire broke out at a Southington apartment on Tuesday. Firefighters said three occupants were able to escape from 191 Queen St., but two of them had "significant injuries."
In all, according to the American Red Cross, five people lived in the apartment — two adults and three children.
Fire officials said they were able to arrive at the scene within minutes and "aggressively contained the fire."

Fire officials contrasted the fire with two rooms. In one instance a door to an adult bedroom was left open and the room practically melted.
A door to a children's room was closed, which kept the room temperature 10 about 100 degrees while the fire reached close to 1,000 degrees. The room was essentially intact because of the closed door, fire officials said.
