S OUTHINGTON – Apple fritters and ice cream sundaes are on the menu at First Baptist Church of Southington on Friday, Sept. 23 for a fundraiser to benefit the church’s mission work. The ice cream social, which will also feature a silent auction, will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church, located at 581 Meriden Ave.

Various businesses and individuals have donated gift cards, services and items for gift baskets in the silent auction. Ice cream sundaes – featuring multiple toppings and sauces – are $5 each, apple fritters are $7 per half-dozen and both can be purchased at a package price of $10. There will also be non-dairy and low-sugar options for the sundaes.

The event benefits a mission trip being planned for 2017 to assist with cleanup from Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey. Tickets can be purchased after the Sunday 10 a.m. worship services on Sept. 11 and 18 or at the door. For more information, call the church office at 860-628-8121, the website www.firstbaptistsouthington.org or on Facebook.
