SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local foundation serving Southington is asking for input for special funding that aims to improve the local community.
The Main Street Community Foundation is currently accepting letters of inquiry (LOIs) for grants from the Bradley Henry Barnes and Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust.

Nonprofit organizations may apply for new capital projects, programs, or initiatives that improve the health outcomes of Southington residents.
The deadline to submit an LOI is Sept. 20.

In 2023, Main Street Community Foundation awarded a total of $908,636 from the Bradley Henry Barnes and Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust.
Originally established in 1973 by the late Bradley Barnes of Southington to support the health and well-being of Southington residents, the trust was transferred to Main Street Community Foundation in 2004.
Since that time, more than $13.9 million has been granted to improve health outcomes of Southington residents.
In addition to the Barnes Memorial Trust, MSCF is accepting grant applications for the Women & Girls Fund and the Men & Boys’ Fund.
Both of these funds support gender-specific programming in the communities of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott.
The deadline for the Women & Girls' Fund is Sept. 6 and Sept. 20 for the Men & Boys’ Fund.
