Four Dogs Rescued From Southington Inferno: SFD

Firefighters from Bristol and Meriden were at the scene Friday, with Plainville, New Britain, and Cheshire covering for Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local firefighters Friday were able to save four dogs from a burning home late that morning on Norton Street.

According to the Southington Fire Department, several units were dispatched to 123 Norton St. at about 11:12 a.m. for a report of a possible house fire.

In five minutes, responding units noticed smoke coming from a single-story, residential dwelling with fire in the rear of the house into the attic.

Crews started firefighter operations immediately and began searching the house for any occupants.

No human occupants were found in the home, but firefighters were able to save four canines who were, later, reunited with their owners.

Firefighters from Southington, with assistance from the Bristol and Meriden fire departments, were there for about 90 minutes battling the blaze.

Meanwhile, Plainville, Cheshire, and New Britain fire departments covered Southington while local firefighters fought this fire.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated by the Southington Fire Marshal's Office.
