Learn about factors, treatments and management. 10am Cheshire Senior Center. HHC Senior Services sponsors. RSVP to 855.442.4373

CHESHIRE – Acid reflux, which is similar to heartburn, is caused by the irritation of the esophagus by stomach acid. The burning sensation in the chest is just one symptom of the condition that can be exacerbated by factors including being overweight, eating large meals, lying down too soon after eating and more.
A free program, “Do You Think You Have Stomach Acid?,” will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m., at Cheshire Senior Center, 240 Maple Ave. The presenter will be Christina Polomoff, PharmD, BCACP, BCGP, clinical pharmacist at Hartford HealthCare Integrated Care Partners and assistant clinical professor at University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
Discussion will include the difference between acid reflux and heartburn, natural ways to prevent the problem, and medications that can help – or worsen – stomach acid. Hartford HealthCare Senior Services is sponsoring the program.
