Generator Heist Suspect Identified By Southington PD: Police

The incident happened at a local retail operation on Tuesday night.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local price club Tuesday was the victim of an electric generator heist in which Southington police said they quickly were able to identify a suspect.

According to the Southington Police Department, the male is believed to have shoplifted $1,000 worth of generators from the BJ's Wholesale Club store at 75 Spring St., Southington.

The incident happened at about 7:36 p.m. Tuesday night, with police initially posting surveillance images of the man believed responsible shortly thereafter.

Three hours after posting the information, however, police said they received information allowing them to identify the yet-to-be-named suspect.

The SPD said the department is seeking an arrest warrant in New Britain Superior Court.

Police credited the public for their help in identifying the man.

"The Southington Police Department would once again like to thank the valuable members of our community for their routine participation and assistance in these types of investigations," wrote police.
