Gun Heist Probed At Southington Firearms Retailer: Police
Several handguns were stolen with the getaway vehicle being found Sunday in nearby Cheshire.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police are investigating a Sunday morning gun heist at a Southington gun shop in which several handguns were taken.
The Southington Police Department said Monday morning the incident happened at Lock 'N Load Firearms, a store located at 1573 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington.
Police said, during the "early morning hours" Sunday, officers were called to the location for a reported commercial burglary.

The SPD said video captured from inside the business recorded suspects entering the gun store through the business's front window, activating the alarm.
The gun store reported a total of 10 handguns stolen, police said.

According to the SPD, shortly after the burglary, an officer located the suspect vehicle fleeing the site.
The vehicle was tracked until later abandoned in Cheshire directly across from Interstate 691 on Route 10, police said.
Officers recovered one handgun left in the abandoned vehicle, the SPD reported.
Officers checked the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspects, police said.
The SPD is working with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as well as business owners to identify and track down the stolen firearms.
