Gun Incident At Southington Motel 6 Leads To Charges
A man was arrested after a motel gun incident in Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man staying at the Southington Motel 6 is facing several charges after a gun incident in a room at the establishment, police said.
The incident took place Tuesday at the Southington Motel 6 on Queen Street.
At 10:58 a.m., Southington Police responded to a reported dispute involving 54-year-old Joshua Wilson, who was staying in a room at the Motel 6, according to a report.

Wilson is accused of throwing a woman to the floor in the hotel room and striking her in the
head several times. According to a report, Wilson then pointed a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun at the woman before firing a round into the wall of the motel room.

The bullet went through the wall of the room and two more rooms that were not occupied, according to a report. After firing the gun Wilson left the room with the gun in a box, according to a report.
It was located a short distance away on the Motel 6 property, according to a report.
Wilson did not have a permit to carry the handgun and, during the investigation, it was discovered that the gun had an illegal high-capacity magazine, according to a report. Police also located three more high-capacity magazines in the room, a report indicates.
The woman sustained minor injuries, but declined medical attention, police said.
Wilson was charged with:
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm
- Third-degree assault
- Reckless endagerment
- Breach of peace
- Third-degree criminal mishchief
- Carrying a pistol or Revolver without a permit
- Possession of large capacity magazines
