Happy Campers Line Up in Southington for Free Chick-fil-A Food

People were lined up for a chance a free food a day before Chick-fil-A opens in Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Folks began lining up and camping out in front of Southington's new Chick-fil-A restaurant on Wednesday morning, 24 hours before it is scheduled to open, all for an opportunity to win free food for a year.

Representatives from the fast food chain said by 6 a.m., 25 people had arrived at the 801 Queen St. location to secure their spot among the first eligible guests.

The first 100 through the doors through the doors are eligible through the Chick-fol-A First 100 program.

Store representatives said they would continue to register guests until they reach 100 people age 18 and older living in specific zip codes surrounding the restaurant. A list of eligible zip codes and rules can be found at https://thechickenwire.chick-fil- a.com/News/Future-Openings.

The Chick-fil- A First 100 is a tradition that goes back more than 14 years, Chick-fil- A's First 100 celebration has given away more than $34 million in free food through 2017 and continues to be the chain's signature grand opening event.

Winners get 52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium order of Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage .

Franchise operator Mike Hartman is graduate of Shippensburg University with a degree in information systems management. Hartman worked extensively in the insurance industry, most recently as a senior project manager in Connecticut.

Hartman, has been a Connecticut resident for nearly 20 years.
