Hartford HealthCare Cancer Awareness program set for Jan. 15

SOUTHINGTON – Almost everyone knows someone who has had cancer. In 2016, the most recent year for which data are available, nationwide more than 1.6 million new cases were reported and nearly 600,000 people died, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A free program about cancer awareness will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1:30 p.m., at Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Presenter will be Linda Ivey, outreach educator, Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute. Hartford HealthCare Senior Services is sponsoring.
