Health screenings & flu shots available at Healthy Family FunFest
Area's largest health-related event set for Sunday, Feb. 23, 10a-2p, Aqua Turf. Health information and activities for people of all ages.

PLANTSVILLE –Nearly one dozen health screenings will be offered at the 11th annual Healthy Family FunFest planned for Sunday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St.
Health screenings offered include blood pressure (Hartford HealthCare at Home and the Hospital of Central Connecticut Emergency Services); cholesterol (Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging); glucose (Hartford HealthCare at Home); balance (Southington Care Center); and vision screening for children (Southington Lions Club). Other screenings include mental health (Hartford HealthCare Institute of Living Family Resource Center); genetic testing (MidState Radiology Associates); and sleep disorders (Ayer Neuroscience Institute).
It is not too late to get a flu shot - flu shots will be provided by Hartford HealthCare at Home; people should bring their health insurance cards. Insurances accepted include Medicare, ConnectiCare, Anthem, Cigna, Aetna and Medicare Advantage plans for ConnectiCare, Anthem and Aetna. The cost is $42 or $75 depending on the vaccine chosen and the fee can be paid by cash or check.

Healthy Family FunFest will feature Hartford HealthCare health professionals representing dozens of specialties, resources and interactive wellness activities for people of all ages. There are dozens of child-friendly activities including the Kids Area courtesy of Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA.
Shuttle bus service will be available from the commuter lot on Route 10, South Main Street at the intersection of Mulberry Street. Rides are courtesy of Mulberry Gardens of Southington and The Orchards at Southington assisted and independent living communities that are not for profit members of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services.

Healthy Family FunFest’s premiere sponsor is the Bradley H. Barnes & Leila U. Barnes Memorial Trust at Main Street Community Foundation. Team player sponsors are Aria Medical Aesthetics and Dental Group of Meriden-Wallingford. The event is presented by Hartford HealthCare and the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Southington Bread for Life.
