SOUTHINGTON, CT — Emergency crews helped get a misdirected hiker off Ragged Mountain Wednesday evening.

The initial call for "a lost hiker" came in just after 7 p.m., fire officials said.

A short time later, the hiker was located on the top of the main cliff and was safely removed from the woods, fore officials said.

Parts of the Ragged Mountain trail system are in both Southington and Berlin. The mountain stands about 500 feet above the Quinnipiac River and is about 2.5-by-1.75 miles in total area.

The mountain consists of a series of high bluffs and ledges.
