SOUTHINGTON, CT — A woman identified in a police report as a "home aide" was to appear in court Wednesday to answer accusations that she used her position to rip off an elderly Southington woman.

On June 18, Adria Amos, 23, surrendered at the Southington Police Department on an outstanding warrant, police said. The warrant charged her with criminal impersonation, second-degree forgery, second-degree identity theft, theft of a payment card, the illegal use of a payment card, receipt from the illegal use of a credit card, sixth-degree larceny and the fraudulent use of a teller machine.

Police said the warrant resulted from Amos using her position as a "home aid" to access a credit card belonging to a 76-year-old woman. She is accused of then using the card "without authorization" to order food for herself via Doordash, for Venmo transactions, to withdraw money from an ATM, according to a report. She then stole and wrote one check to herself, a report indicates.
