Home Depot Crew Spruces Up Former Marine's Yard
The program is designed to give something back to veterans.

BERLIN/SOUTHINGTON, CT - A team from the Southington Home Depot gave Former Marine Matthew Currao a cool Fourth of July gift on Wednesday and Thursday.
A new backyard at his home on Edgewood Road in Berlin.
The Berlin Citizen/Record Journal highlighted the gesture on Thursday.

The work was done through a program started two-and-a-half years ago at Home Depot designed to improve the lives of veterans and communities in need.
Team leader Bill Kiely was also part of the Team Home Depot sidewalk construction for the Southington Valley Midget Football League as well as the resurfacing of Panthorn Park’s batting cages.

Kiely was approached by Currao’s mother, Southington resident Margherita, after she had sent a letter requesting the team’s help in sprucing up her son’s backyard.
Currao had fought in Afghanistan and Iraq and was injured eight times, according to the story.
