Home modifications for independent living program geared to older adults

SOUTHINGTON – Most people want to be able to remain living in their homes as long as possible. Many times, a simple home modification can greatly increase independence, comfort and safety, enabling individuals to live safely at home. A free program on this topic will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 1:30-2:30 p.m., at Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St.

Amy Finke, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, will share her knowledge about modifications for safety, from small projects like a grab bar to larger projects such as modifying a bathroom or adding a ramp to the home. She will also discuss how to find a reputable contractor.
