SOUTHINGTON, CT — The owners of the Hop Knot, a restaurant in Middletown known for fresh pretzels and specialty beers said in a recent Facebook post that they anticipate their new Southington location to open by late summer.

"Coming off the success of our first establishment in Middletown, we are very excited and eager to expand our reach to further areas of Connecticut," owners Mike Boney and John Schauster said in the Facebook post. The original Hop Knot opened in 2016 on Main Street in Middletown.

The Southington location will be at 1169 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, the former home of the Slanted Shanty.
