Hospice Volunteering: What is it? How Can I Help?
A free information session will be held at Southington Library on Monday, May 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Hartford HealthCare at Home sponsors.

SOUTHINGTON – When someone is facing the end of life, hospice care is often relied upon for emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families. The free program, “Hospice Volunteering: What is it? How Can I Help?” will be held Monday, May 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Southington Library, 255 Main St. Holly Beck, volunteer coordinator for Hartford HealthCare at Home, will present. Hartford HealthCare at Home is sponsoring.
During this casual meeting, Beck will talk about the history of hospice care and dispel common myths about hospice. Volunteers, who visit patients at home and in nursing facilities, are vital in many ways including reading to patients, providing a listening ear, playing music and visiting with certified pet therapy teams. Beck will review the requirements and offer different training options.
