House Fire Probed In Southington: SFD

Assisting the Southington Fire Department Monday were crews from Bristol, Cheshire, Meriden, Plainville and New Britain.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a blaze Monday morning that badly damaged a home in Southington.

According to the Southington Fire Department, firefighters were called to 1445 Meriden Ave. at about 4:37 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, for reported smoke in a home and possible fire in the walls.

Fire officials said firefighters arrived and immediately found smoke throughout the home.

"Crews overhauled and checked for extension, which was limited to the area around the chimney," wrote the SFD Monday.

As a result, the “Working Fire Protocol” was requested, which added additional resources from mutual aid partners.

This prompted crews from the Bristol Fire Department and Meriden Fire Department to be brought to the scene while town coverage was provided by the Plainville, Cheshire, and New Britain fire departments.

The fire is being investigated by the Southington Fire Marshal’s Office.
