'Inappropriate' Student Messaging Being Investigated in Southington

Police acknowledged the investigation into student messaging on Wednesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Several middle school students are being investigated for what police are describing as "inappropriate" text messages" via social media.

"Based on recent postings, the Southington Police Department can confirm that there is an active investigation involving students at both middle schools," SPD spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said Wednesday.

Dobratz said a full report has not been completed, so he was hesitant to expound in what the messages entailed or if they were sent while the students were on school grounds.

He also did not elaborate on which social media sites were used to convey the messages, nor did he explain the subject matter of the massages, citing the unfinished investigation.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation involving juveniles and there will be no further
comment or information released at this time," he said.
