Southington: Some Ballot Applications Had Wrong Info
Town officials say most ballot applications have the correct information on them.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Those seeking absentee ballots for the November 2022 mid-term and gubernatorial elections may have been given incorrect deadlines by town staff.
As a result, the Town of Southington is looking to rectify the situation by getting the word out about the actual deadline regarding the drop boxes.
Town officials said via social media Tuesday that those applying for absentee ballots prior to Oct. 7 may have been given inaccurate deadlines to have absentee ballots placed in the town's two drop boxes.

The accurate deadline, according to the town, is no later than 8 p.m. on Nov. 8, which is Election Day.
Southington Town Clerk Kathy Larkin said most ballot applications featured the correct deadlines, but the town wanted to guard against any potential confusion.

"It wasn't a lot of people, but we just wanted to make everyone aware of it," Larkin said Wednesday morning.
According to Larkin, some of the applications distributed prior to Oct. 7 incorrectly stated an August deadline to have their ballots turned in.
She said the two drop boxes are at Southington Town Hall, 75 Main St., with one at the front entrance and another at a side entryway.
Larkin said the town is already starting to see a trickle of people voting early via absentee ballot.
She said the people who town staff suspected may have received erroneous ballot applications were notified via a post card of the correct deadlines.
