NEW BRITAIN – When life doesn’t always go as planned, sometimes it takes a special person or persons to get it back on track. After an accident, surgery or experiencing a chronic medical condition, it could be a registered physical therapist that can get an individual back to normal day-to-day activities.
Outpatient rehabilitation services are now available to the public at Jerome Home, a not for profit member of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services. Jerome Home, which offers skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, residential care, memory care and assisted living, is located at 975 Corbin Ave. For years, residents and short-term patients of Jerome Home have benefited from such therapies to regain a better quality of life.
Laurel Whalen, RPT, MLD/CDT, is a physical therapist with 12 years of outpatient therapy experience and was integral in developing the successful outpatient therapy program at Southington Care Center before transitioning to Jerome Home. At Jerome Home, outpatient therapy is offered Monday through Friday in the private rehabilitation center where specialists work one-on-one, utilizing individualized comprehensive treatment plans. Progress is continually assessed and treatments are modified for optimal results in regaining independence.
