Keeping balance and staying flexible play role in preventing falls

balance, fall prevention, Southington Care Center, exercise, Hartford HealthCare, senior services

BRISTOL - The (natural) fear of falling is a major health problem among seniors, and actually has a name: basophobia. As people age, it can become more difficult to maintain balance and falls can become more common. Mark Colello, exercise physiologist at Southington Care Center, will present a free program Monday, April 10, 2 p.m., at Bristol Senior Center, 240 Stafford Ave. He will focus on reducing environmental risks, improving physicality, boosting bone strength, and additional factors that can prevent falls.

Seating is limited. To register, call Bristol Senior Center, 860.584.7895.

Southington Care Center offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and is a not for profit member of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services. For more information, visit southingtoncare.org.
