balance, healthy aging, Southington Care Center, falls, Hartford HealthCare, senior services

PLAINVILLE - The fear of falling is a major health problem among seniors, and actually has a name: basophobia. As people age, it can become more difficult to maintain balance and falls can become more common. Mark Colello, exercise physiologist at Southington Care Center, will present a free program Thursday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m., at Plainville Senior Center, 200 East St. He will focus on reducing environmental risks, improving physicality, boosting bone strength, and additional factors that can prevent falls. Southington Care Center is sponsoring.

Seating is limited. To register, call Plainville Senior Center, 860.747.5728.

Southington Care Center offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and is a not for profit member of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services. For more information about Southington Care Center, visit southingtoncare.org.
