Knowing how to fall safely can prevent serious injury

Don't slip on the ice and snow or at least learn how to minimize injuries. Free event Thurs, Jan. 10, Meriden Senior Ctr. RSVP 203.237.0066

MERIDEN – Sometimes, there's no way to avoid a fall. And in the winter it is easy to fall thanks to the ice and snow. However, knowing how to fall correctly, whether forward or backwards, can reduce the risk or lessen the severity of injury. A free program, “How to Fall Safely,” will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m., at Meriden Senior Center, 22 W. Main St. Exercise physiologist Lisa Murawski, of GoodLife Fitness, Southington Care Center, will lead the program. Southington Care Center is sponsoring.

Seating is limited and registration is required. To register, call Meriden Senior Center, 203.237.0066.

Southington Care Center, a member of Hartford HealthCare and located at 45 Meriden Ave. in Southington, offers skilled nursing and inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation services. To learn more, visit http://southingtoncare.org.
