Korean War Veterans Honored.

Two local Korean War Veterans from Southington were awarded the South Korean Ambassadors medal of gratitude at a ceremony in East Hartford Friday, October 21, 2016.Pratt & Whitney Aircraft sponsored the Medal Ceremony at their hangar at Rentchler Field in East Hartford.The medals were designed by South Korean Ambassador AHN Ho-Young. He stated the medals were made from the Barbed Wire from the DMZ that is replaced every seven years.Standing in the picture back row-l-r is Chong DeMello of Southington who's husband John DeMello, Sr. Is an Army Veteran and a Veterans Advocate in Southington. Ambassador AHN Ho-Young, Congressman John Larson, front row Korean War Veteran Willam Hill, Sr. and Lloyd Sherwood both of Southington.John DeMello is seeking further Korean War Veterans or family members of deceased Korean War Veterans to assist in obtaining their medals.
