Two local Korean War Veterans from Southington were awarded the South Korean Ambassadors medal of gratitude at a ceremony in East Hartford Friday, October 21, 2016.Pratt & Whitney Aircraft sponsored the Medal Ceremony at their hangar at Rentchler Field in East Hartford.The medals were designed by South Korean Ambassador AHN Ho-Young. He stated the medals were made from the Barbed Wire from the DMZ that is replaced every seven years.Standing in the picture back row-l-r is Chong DeMello of Southington who's husband John DeMello, Sr. Is an Army Veteran and a Veterans Advocate in Southington.
