Lake Compounce Summer Concert Series Will Float Your Boat (Literally)

The Bristol/Southington park will host several big-name acts on a new, floating stage this summer.

BRISTOL/SOUTHINGTON, CT — The state's largest and the nation's oldest amusement park is prepping for a new season with a unique entertainment option that promises to enhance the park experience.

Lake Compounce, located in Bristol/Southington, recently announced the return of its summer concert season in a sign the area is, finally, putting the Covid-19 pandemic behind us.

But the stage for these free concerts to park goers is a bit unique too. If floats.

That's correct, the park — located at 185 Enterprise Drive, Southington, and in Bristol — plans to put a floating stage on the venue's iconic lake and have some big-name bands perform for amusement park guests.

Park officials also announced a new-and-improved beachfront for folks to gather at the floating concert venue.

"New in 2023, a floating stage will bring live entertainment to Lake Compounce like never before," wrote Lake Compounce officials on the park's website.

It all starts Memorial Day weekend, with shows planned for Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28.

While an artist has yet to be announced for May 27, country music star Jerrod Niemann is slated to perform the next day, May 28.

From there, special shows will take place all summer long on the floating stage on Saturday nights.

All you need to attend are park passes, either annual passes or the single-day variety.

Other notable acts slated to peform at Lake Compounce are: Everclear (June 10); CeeLo Green (June 24); All-4-One (July 22; and tribute acts all summer long for Abba, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi and, even, The Beatles.

Lake Compounce is considered America's first amusement park and it opened more than 175 years ago, according to park officials.

Today, it features more than 45 rides and attractions, Connecticut’s largest water park and the six-story Venus Vortex water slide.
