SOUTHINGTON – As
people age, it can become more difficult to maintain balance and falls can
become more common, leading to serious injury and further complications.
However, knowing how to fall the correct way forwards or backwards can reduce
the risk or lessen the severity of injury. A free program, “How to Fall
Safely,” will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1:30 p.m., at Calendar House, 388
Pleasant St. Presenter will be Lisa Murawski, exercise physiologist, with
GoodLife Fitness at Southington Care Center, program sponsor.
Seating is limited and registration is required. To RSVP, call Calendar House, 860.621.3014.
GoodLife Fitness, a program of Hartford HealthCare, is geared toward the older adult to build energy, strength and endurance for an active lifestyle. An exercise physiologist works one-to-one with each person to improve muscular strength, balance, cardiovascular health and self-esteem, while reducing the risk of falls and injuries.
