The event will be hosted by Central Connecticut State University Professor of English and Latin Gil Gigliotti, who also hosts “Frank, Gil, & Friends” on WFCS 107.7.
Additionally, Pastor Thomas Mills, Jr. of Grace CME Church and Chaplain of the New Britain Police Department will be honored by LVCC with the 2023 “Mission Medal” for his long time advocacy and support of the organization.
Founded in 1978, LVCC provides small group and one-on-one literacy tutoring to over 300 adults in the communities of New Britain, Middletown, Bristol, Berlin, Burlington, Cromwell, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, Haddam, Marlborough, Middlefield, Plainville, Portland and Southington.
“We are excited to bring our Love of Literacy back again this year to help raise money for our critical adult and family literacy programs we provide to the region,” said LVCC Executive Director Ron Sheffer. “We couldn’t do without our network of volunteers and the financial support received through events like this.”
In addition to the adult literacy program, LVCC founded the Central CT Family Literacy Center, which provides educational programs to low-literate mothers with children under the age of 8 who need to learn English.
