Live-Fire Training All Week Long For Southington FD
Southington firefighters will be at the town transfer station Dec. 4-9 for several days of 'live-fire' training.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — IF you see smoke, flames and a heavy Southington Fire Department presence at the Southington Transfer Station next week, don't fret.
They're just training, a necessary task required so the department's crew of staff and volunteer firefighters are ready for the real thing.
The SFD said it will be at the 617 Old Turnpike Road, Plantsville, site from Monday, Dec. 4, to Saturday, Dec. 9, for "live fire" training.

Firefighters will be burning several items at the site and "smoke may be visible from areas in the vicinity of the training."
But folks can breathe easy, according to the fire department as "there are no air quality alerts being issued in conjunction with these events."
