A Look at Southington's Winter Sports Team Title History
Southington High School teams have won 16 state titles in winters past.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball and wrestling) and next Saturday (boys basketball, ice hockey, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a state championship.
To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the 16 CIAC winter team titles won by Southington High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).
- girls gymnastics (8) - Class L: 2015, 2014, 2013, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005
- girls basketball (7) - Class LL: 1993, 1992, 1989, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1982
- wrestling (1) - Class LL: 1978
