Major Religious Celebration Slated In Southington

The 2nd annual Sikh Day Parade will take place on Main Street in Southington on Saturday, transforming downtown into a little bit of India.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Main Street in Southington will resemble a little bit of India this Saturday, May 4, as the local Sikh community will celebrate a very special holiday.

Headlining the day's events on the town green on Main Street will be the 2nd annual Sikh Day Parade, which will take place at noon.

The event is a celebration called Khalsa Saajna Divas & Vaisakhi — or Sikh Day.

Southington has a large Sikh community and it is home to the Connecticut Sikh Association.

According to the Southington Police Department, motorists can expect travel delays in that area, especially on Center, West Center, and South Center streets, as well as Columbus Boulevard.
