Major Utility Upgrades Planned In Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Residents in some Southington neighborhoods can expect to see Eversource Energy crews working on new power line upgrades soon.

Beginning Aug. 5, Eversource and its approved contractors will begin working on the Southington to Black Pond Junction Structure Replacement Project.

In the upcoming weeks, work will begin within the right-of-way on or near Peters Circle, Rustic Oak Drive, Partridge Drive, and Pine Oak Drive to replace existing wooden transmission structures with new weathering steel structures.

These project activities will occur within the right-of-way between Southington Substation near Belleview Avenue in Southington and an area off Route 66 in Meriden called Black Pond Junction.

According to Eversource:

• This work will not interrupt electric service to your property.

• All people working on this project carry identification.

• Construction activity will take place on Eversource-owned property or within the existing right of way.

• The hours for construction are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Due to weather or other unexpected circumstances from time to time, the crews may need to work longer hours or work on a Sunday.

• Construction activities, including restoration, are to be completed by early 2025.
