Luxury Vehicles Wreck In Southington, Man Charged
The Newington resident was not hurt in the accident, but two were injured in the other vehicle.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 30-year-old Newington man has been charged in connection with a serious crash involving two high-priced automobiles in Southington late Saturday night that sent two to the hospital.
According to Connecticut State Police early Tuesday morning, Jakub M. Cwieka, 30, of Sterling Drive, Newington, was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs; tampering of physical evidence; and interfering with a police officer/resisting arrest.
He was released on $10,000 bond and will appear in New Britain Superior Court Sept. 15.

State police said that at 11:07 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, police from Troop H in Hartford were called to Interstate 84 in Southington after a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
Police said Cwieka was identified as one of the operators involved and was "exhibiting signs of intoxication."

As a result, he was taken into custody and transported to Troop H for processing.
According to the state police accident report, which was released Tuesday morning, a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV being driven by a 29-year-old Burlington man was traveling on I-84 east near Exit 31 in Southington.
At the same time, a 2017 Lexus IS 300 sedan being driven by Cwieka was also traveling on I-84 east in that same area.
According to police, both vehicles lost control and collided with each other and with metal beam guardrails on both sides of the roadway.
Both cars were towed from the scene with disabling damage.
The Burlington man and a 30-year-old passenger in the Alfa Romeo were taken to the hospital, with the driver sustaining "serious injuries" and the passenger sustaining "minor injuries," according to police.
Police said Cwieka had no injuries, but was charged in connection with the crash.
That accident remains under investigation.
