A man was charged after police say they found him in possession of a stolen car and drugs.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man is facing charges in a stolen car and drug case, according to police. Police received a notification from a license plate reader of a stolen license plate shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Police found the car, a 2018 white BMW M55, parked at a business on West Street. Police checked the BMW's vehicle identification number and confirmed the car was stolen out of South Windsor.
Police established a perimeter around the business. Graydon Montgomery, 26, exited the business and attempted to walk away a short time later, according to police.

Montgomery was taken into custody and told officers he bought the BMW a month ago but could not provide proof of ownership.
Police discovered that while Montgomery was inside the business, he admitted the car was stolen and had attempted to give the keys to an employee before asking if there were any other exits to use other than the front door, according to police.

Police found Montgomery had several sets of car keys, none of which belonged to the BMW. Police found the BMW's keys later inside the business close to where Montgomery had been seen.
Police also said Montgomery had three cell phones and later found a fourth in the car. He had about $3,800 in cash. Police searched the car and found a large bag with over one pound of marijuana and burglary tools.
Montgomery was charged with first-degree larceny, possession with intent to sell cannabis, possession of cannabis greater than 5 ounces, and misuse of marker plates.
He was released on a $100,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court.
