Man Charged With Voyeurism at Southington YMCA

A man has been arrested for spying on others at the Southington YMCA, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man is accused of spying on other men in the shower at the Southington YMCA, local police said.

On Monday, officers responded to the Southington YMCA, 29 High St., after a camera was found in the drying off area of the adult men's locker room, according to an arrest report.

A man identified as Leonidas Fernando Torres-Cabrera, 30, of Naugatuck, is accused of positioning a cell phone in a gym bag with the camera activated in video recording mode near the drying area outside the showers, according to an arrest report.

The camera was aimed at the drying area and able to record men as they dried off after a shower, according to an arrest report.

Torres-Cabrera was seen in the area several times over a short time period prior to the camera being discovered, according to an arrest report.

When questioned, Torres-Cabrera admitted that the gym bag and camera were his and that he set them up
near the showers, according to an arrest report.

Torres-Cabrera was charged with voyeurism and disorderly conduct, police said. He was held on a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Feb, 6, police said.
