8 Charged In Southington Biker Melee, Shooting: Police: UPDATE

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Eight people have been arrested following a shooting and assault during Cadillac Ranch Restaurant's regular Bike Night event in Southington that left two men hospitalized, including one who remains in critical condition.

The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Cadillac Ranch, where police said the parking lot and restaurant were crowded with motorcycle enthusiasts and members of several motorcycle clubs.

According to the Southington Police Department on Thursday morning, the investigation determined that a physical altercation began in the parking lot.

During the fight, a firearm was discharged, striking a 25-year-old man in the chest, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police said his identity is being withheld.

Investigators said the altercation continued until officers arrived.

During the incident, four people allegedly acted together to assault a 44-year-old man.

That victim was also transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. His identity has not been released.

Police recovered a firearm from the scene.

According to the SPD, four people were arrested and charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident:

• James McDermott, 52, of Waterbury
• Gerard McAfee, 54, of Branford
• Philip Gugliotti, 55, of Waterbury
• Harley Woodbury, 31, of Terryville

Each was held on a $150,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on July 16.

During the investigation, police also arrested four people on charges of interfering with a police officer.

After their identities were confirmed at the Bristol Police Department, they were released on bond and are scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on July 29.

Those charged with interfering are:

• Kevin Lawlor, 48, of Derby
• William Schneiter, 60, of Baltic
• Marc Debenigno, 49, of Waterbury
• Zarif Ramadanov, 46, of Bethany

Police said both victims are expected to survive their injuries.

The department thanked the Connecticut State Police and the Bristol, Plainville, Farmington, New Britain, and Berlin police departments for assisting through mutual aid.

The investigation remains active.
