Man Drives Through the Green at Golf Course and into Water Hazard: Report

He was pulled from the chilly water.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A person was rescued from the chilly waters of a pond at Southington Country Club after a traffic accident on Thursday night, police said.

The crash took place at 10:19 p.m., according to police.

Police said Brent Jewell, 54 of Heath, Ohio drove a 2016 Nissan onto the lower half of the property of the Southington Country Club. It appears the vehicle entered a service road and then traveled onto the course, police said.

The vehicle then traveled on the course, went into a pond and became submerged in the icy pond water, police said.

When first-responders arrived, Brent was outside of the vehicle in the pond, police said.

Brent was removed from the pond by the Southington Fire Dept. and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and possible hypothermia, police said.

The vehicle was removed from the pond with a heavy duty wrecker, police said.

No charges have been filed at this time and this case is currently under investigation, police said.
