Man Killed After Being Hit By Car In Southington

Southington police said the accident was on Queen Street Monday night.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — An unidentified male was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Queen Street Monday night.

According to the Southington Police Department Tuesday morning, the incident happened at about 7:59 p.m. on Queen Street near Laning Street.

Police said a single vehicle struck a pedestrian on that road.

When officers arrived at the scene, police said they found four occupants in the vehicle, along with the pedestrian, who "had suffered severe physical injuries as a result of this crash," police said in a statement.

Authorities said the pedestrian was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, "where he died as a result of his injuries."

Police said a black, mid-sized sedan was traveling south on Queen Street through the street's intersection with Interstate 84.

The victim, police said, reportedly crossed Queen Street from west to east south of Laning Street.

That's when the right side of the sedan's front end struck the man, who was "projected forward into the northbound lane of Queen Street."
