Man Who Raced Away From Southington Cops Arrested

A man who fled Southington police questioning earlier this month in a speeding car has been charged.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man who fled Southington police questioning earlier this month in a speeding car has been located and charged, a warrant indicates.

At 8:31 on the morning of June 16, Southington police received a call from the Groton Police

Department indicating Ryan Ragalis, 26, of New Britain, was in custody.

Ragalis had an active arrest warrant out of the Southington, police said. Ragalis was processed and charged with disobeying the signal of an officer, unsafe movement from a stop, failure to maintain a lane, two counts of failure to use a turn signal, speeding, two counts of failure to obey a stop sign, reckless driving, illegal operation without an ignition device, operating under suspension.

Ragalis posted a $20,000 bond and was released after his arraignment with a return court date of July 10, records show.

According to a warrant, June 1, officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle complaint at the Sunoco Gas station at 464 Queen Street.

As an officer approached the vehicle and attempted to speak with the operator, later
identified as Ragalis, the vehicle started the car up and sped off at a high rate of speed, accordinmg to a warrant.

Ragalis was not located, according to a warrant.

Ragalis has a suspended driver’s license and is also required to have an Ignition Interlock Device in any vehicle he operates, records show.
