Motorcyclist Critical After Southington Crash, Police Said

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Plainville motorcyclist is in critical condition in a New Britain hospital after local police said the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle early Saturday morning.

Police have identified the operator of the motorcycle as 31-year-old John Reardon of Plainville.

He is listed in critical condition at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus, according to police Saturday morning.

According to police, the accident happened at about 2:07 a.m. in front of the Cumberland Farms store at 909 Queen St.

Police said the vehicle was traveling south on Queen Street, while the motorcycle, a 2001 Harley Davidson, was traveling north on Queen Street.

The vehicle attempted to make a left-hand turn into Cumberland Farms and the vehicle and motorcycle then collided, according to police.

The Southington Police Department, Southington Fire Department and American Medical Response ambulance all responded to the scene.

Police said the operator of the vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Venza, was identified as 19-year-old Derek Pomarico of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

According to police, Pomarico did not appear to be injured and declined medical attention.
