Mount Southington Celebrating Friday's Snowstorm

And a lot more snow might be on its way next week to enhance the skiing and riding.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — As schools were closing and plows were running on Friday, because of "inclement" weather, Mount Southington officials were licking their chops.

"Looking good!" was the Tweet from the mountain with an emphasis on the exclamation point.

Mount Southington officials even re-Tweeted its celebratory video in anticipation of up to 5 inches of fresh cover on the trails.

The mountain was in mid-season form Friday, sporting 12 trails open and five lifts running.

With cold temperatures forecast for the weekend the pond skimming contest has been moved to March 25, mountain officials said.

Next week could bring more snow to the mountain. NBC Connecticut Chief Meteorologist Brad Field said all eyes are on a potential big nor'easter for Tuesday.
