Mt. Southington Officials Thinking Waffles and a Snowy Winter Prediction
National Waffle Day served as a warm-up for the chilly season.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Officials at Mount Southington used Wednesday's National Waffle Day proclamation to plug a popular mountain menu item and a predicted snowy winter.
"Just over 3 months away from YOUR favorite ...," Mount Southington officials said in a Twitter posting under a picture of the snow sports area's Waffle House.
Thanksgiving week is a typical target for the smaller snow sports area to open.

And the Farmer's Almanac prediction for the 2016-17 winter in Connecticut?
Winter will be colder than normal, on average, with slightly above-normal precipitation and near-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will be in mid- and late December, mid- and late January, mid-February, and early March.
