Laughter Yoga, 2 Ladies Laughing, Mulberry Gardens, Hartford HealthCare, senior services, yoga, depression, older adults

PLANTSVILLE - Mulberry Gardens of Southington will be offering Laughing Yoga sessions weekly beginning Sept. 6. The sessions will be conducted by the 2 Ladies Laughing, Leslie Cotton and Elaine Hobart, both certified Laughter Yoga instructors. Laughing is an easy and fun way to exercise that can benefit persons of all ages, the women said.

The sessions are free of charge and held on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. in the River Room, lower level of Mulberry Gardens of Southington, 58 Mulberry St. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, no special equipment is necessary. The moves are gentle and can accommodate any person’s ability and range of motion. The 40-minute session can be done either standing or sitting. People may feel the benefits after just one session.

Laughter Yoga, practiced around the world, promotes a positive attitude and lifts spirits, making it easier to cope with life’s challenges. Scientific studies have proven that sustained laughter, initiated through the laughter exercises and deep breathing techniques of Laughter Yoga, is beneficial to persons of all ages. Laughter helps promote a positive attitude, helps overcome depression and has the unique ability to immediately connect people. The program is especially well suited for seniors.
