New Convenience Store/Chicken Chain Opens In Southington: UPDATE
The grand opening celebration took place Thursday for a new chain convenience store and an accompanying chicken/biscuits eatery.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington community officially welcomed a new chain convenience store and chicken and biscuits option Thursday with a special grand opening event.
The new 7-Eleven store and its "Raise the Roost Chicken and Biscuits" eatery celebrated its grand opening at 500 Queen St., Southington, on Thursday, according to the Southington Chamber of Commerce. The site was a former Rite Aid pharmacy.
While many have likely heard of 7-Eleven, a worldwide convenience store chain specializing in hot and cold beverages, as well as all sorts of quick-service food options, "Raise the Roost" is relatively new to the area.

Essentially, "Raise the Roost" is 7-Eleven's foray into the crowded fast-food chicken market featuring chicken nuggets, tenders and sandwiches, along with a standard array of sides.
"Raise the Roost" features hand-breaded chicken made to order at what 7-Eleven claims is less expensive than many chicken chains.

In addition, "Raise the Roost" features an array of dipping sauces from house-made ranch to Buffalo sauce to honey mustard barbecue.
Southington's "Raise the Roost" is the second such operation in Connecticut, with 7-Eleven's other chicken eatery being in West Haven.
Most of 7-Eleven's chicken chains are based in the south.
As part of Thursday's festivities, the 7-Eleven store donated $711 to the Southington Community YMCA for its community programs.
This opening comes a little more than a month after the chicken/waffles chain " Roosters Chicken & Waffles" opened an eatery on Queen Street as well.
