Newington Chamber names Hartford HealthCare Senior Services employee Member of the Year

The Newington Chamber of Commerce named Hartford HealthCare Senior Services’ community outreach manager as Member of the Year during the annual awards presentation held June 3. Heather Hitchcock, who has served on the Newington Chamber Board of Directors for the last three years, was one of several people honored at the chamber’s 71st Annual Dinner and Best of Newington Awards held at Indian Hill Country Club.

Hitchcock, who has been with Hartford HealthCare Senior Services since October, holds an academic degree in gerontology from the California University of Pennsylvania and has worked for 25 years in the senior-related field. She is active in community causes including the Alzheimer’s Association and served as the Hartford Walk to End Alzheimer’s co-chairwoman for nine years. Hartford HealthCare Senior Services is based in Southington.

As Hartford HealthCare Senior Services’ community outreach manager, Hitchcock performs outreach marketing for post-acute care and coordinates health-related educational presentations.

Her involvement with the Newington Chamber of Commerce includes serving on numerous committees including the annual dinner, Auction & Chocolate Challenge, and marketing, and she chaired the 2016 Chamber Comedy Night. She also was the “stage manager” at the 23rd annual Home & Business Showcase.

“Heather is phenomenal. Whatever we ask of her, she comes through. Her personality, enthusiasm and general overall demeanor is such an asset to the chamber,” said Gail Whitney, chamber executive director.
