'Next Generation' Dunkin' Has Come To Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Dunkin' — that new brand for Dunkin' Donuts — is scheduled to officially unveil a 'next generation' shop this weekend in Southington.

A formal grand opening for the remodeled Dunkin’ at 1825 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike in Southington is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday. The franchisee is Michael Ouimet. He will also be presenting a grant to Friends of Southington Community Services.

The Grand Opening celebration will also include:

• A free coffee for a year giveaway
• A free doughnut with a donation of non-perishable food item
• A prize wheel
• $5 gift cards (while supplies last)
• Free samples and Dunkin’ "swag"
• Hartford Wolf Pack and UConn men's and women's basketball ticket giveaways

The Dunkin' next generation design boasts a "modern atmosphere and innovative
technologies," according to the company. The Southington location is one of about 50 to feature the new design this year.

Elements of Dunkin’s new "restaurant experience" include, according to the company:

• Modern Design: The openness, colors and materials used in the design help to create an approachable, positive and energetic environment
• Premium Pours: Dunkin’s signature cold beverages are now served through an innovative tap system serving eight consistently cold beverages such as coffees, iced teas, cold brew coffee and nitro infused cold brew coffee. Crew members will also use top-quality flavor-maximizing espresso machines to make hand-crafted drinks to order
• Dunkin’ on Demand: With fully-integrated digital kiosks coming in the near future, guests will be able to choose to order with or without the help of a crew member. Dunkin’ has also introduced an area dedicated to mobile pickups, so that members of the DD Perks Rewards program who order ahead via Dunkin’s Mobile App can get in and out of the restaurant faster than ever before. Guests will be able to track the status of their orders placed for pickup inside the restaurant via a new digital order status board
• Increased Energy Efficiency: The new Dunkin’ is a DD Green Achievement restaurant, which is designed to save percent more energy compared to a standard Dunkin’ restaurant
